刘向久，1964年出生于吉林省农安县。1986年专科毕业于吉林省艺术学院，师承贾涤非、王建国等著名油画家；1997年本科毕业于东北师范大学美术教育系；2006年11月结业于俄罗斯列宾美术学院油画大师班；2008年毕业于吉林艺术学院，获硕士学位。曾任吉林艺术学院古代 传媒学院副院长，副教授。现任吉林省书画院外联部主任，吉林省美术家协会油画艺委会副主任，吉林省油画学会副主席，长春市美术家协会副主席，中国美术家协会会员等职。
